Reading Market Data
How to interpret market cap, trading volume, price charts, BTC dominance, and on-chain metrics.
Reading Crypto Market Data
Market Capitalisation
Market cap = current price Γ circulating supply. It measures the relative size of a crypto asset, not its intrinsic value or future price.
Trading Volume
24-hour trading volume indicates how much of an asset has been bought and sold. High volume confirms price moves; low volume makes trends less reliable.
BTC Dominance
Bitcoin's market cap as a percentage of total crypto market cap. Rising dominance often coincides with capital flowing from altcoins into Bitcoin.
Candlestick Charts
Each candle shows the open, high, low, and close price over a time period. Green candles indicate the price closed higher than it opened; red candles indicate the opposite.
