Crypto Wallets Explained
Learn the difference between hot and cold wallets, how seed phrases work, and best practices for securing your assets.
Crypto Wallets Explained
A crypto wallet stores your private and public keys β the cryptographic credentials that prove ownership of assets on a blockchain. The assets themselves remain on the blockchain; the wallet is the key to access them.
Types of Wallets
- Hot Wallets: Software wallets connected to the internet. Convenient for frequent transactions but more exposed to online threats.
- Cold Wallets: Hardware or paper wallets kept offline. Far more secure for long-term storage.
Seed Phrase Security
Your seed phrase (12β24 words) is the master key to your wallet. Never share it, never store it digitally, and keep multiple physical copies in secure locations.
